Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 February 22

"By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them." (Proverbs 22:4-5)

Today’s Morsel:  In today’s world, where there seems to be a large increase for one to be filled with pride, be prideful, and show off one’s pride, humility is pushed to the sidelines.  The world teaches that the way to riches, honor, and life is through pride.  Wear what you want, say what you want, act like you want, look like you want, follow your heart, and be what you want to be.  But they fail to tell you that there are consequences for pride and none of them give you riches, honor, and life.  The consequences of pride are destruction and eternal damnation (See Proverbs 11:2, 16:18, 29:23; Ezekiel 16:49,56; Matthew 7:20-23).  Solomon states that it’s only by humility and the fear of the LORD that there are riches, and honour, and life.  There isn’t any other way.   Peter tells us, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:5-6).  Always remember, humility requires “u” to make it happen.

Sing: Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for You.

Thought For Today:  Humility requires “u” (Parker).
