Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

Today's Morsel: Perfection actually comes in three stages. Present perfection, continual perfection, and future perfection. When one goes through his initial stage of the new birth experience, that of being baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost, all his sins are washed away. He is now perfect at the moment in his present state. But because he is in the world, he will be tainted by the world and its ways. This is why he must immediately head towards the second stage, continual perfection. He must pray, read his Bible, and attend church as much as he can because this is where he will learn to grow and mature. Paul told the church at Ephesus, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ" (Ephesians 4:11-15). One of the duties of spiritual leadership is to help you continue on that road to future perfection. They are to help you mature and grow in Christ so that you will reach that final stage. And that is your future perfection. It is this final stage of perfection when we shall stand before Christ and hear Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Jesus said, "Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect"

Sing: I am determined to hold out to the end. Jesus is with me, on Him I can depend. I know I have salvation for I feel Him in my soul, I am determined to hold out to the end.
Thought For Today: Perfection is obtainable if you keep pressing toward the mark for the prize.
