And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. (Isaiah 59:14-16)
Today's Morsel: One of the things many people fail to realize about Christmas is its overall purpose. There would not have been a need for Christmas if God could have found someone who was righteous and who could stand in the gap and mend the hedges that He would not destroy the land (Ezekiel 22:30). But scripture tells us that He found none. Therefore, in order for us to have salvation, God had to bring salvation Himself to us. Isaiah said He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. If God didn't care for us, we would all be lost. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord"(Luke 2:11). Aren't you glad for Christmas?
Sing: We have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Spread the tidings all around: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Bear the news to every land, climb the mountains, cross the waves; Onward! 'Tis our Lord's command, Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Thought for Today: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
