2012 November 3 - Morning Manna

And he said unto them,  Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mark 16:15-18)

Today's Morsel:  I'm always turning things into acronyms because of all my years in the military.  So I looked at the world Gospel as an acronym to see what else it might mean other than the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  And I came away with the meaning of God Offers Salvation Plus Eternal Life.  Now each of you have a new meaning of the gospel, because neither is their salvation in any other (Acts 4:12), and Jesus said, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:14-15).  When we obey the gospel, salvation and eternal life are freely given by it.  Paul said, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16).  And to the church at Corinth said, "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).  Jesus commands us to go preach the gospel to every creature, because He's not willing that any should perish but that all would come to repentance.  If they never hears the gospel, you aren't doing your duty.

Sing: Well, I'm gonna take a trip on that good old gospel ship, I'm going far beyond the sky; oh, I'm gonna shout and sing until the heavens ring, when I bid this world good-bye.
