And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:28-29)
Today's Morsel: There is a doctrine called the doctrine of predestination. This doctrine teaches that God already knows and has even pre-determined who is going to be saved and who is going to perish in hell, therefore go out and do what you want. This doctrine has many people confused. As Jesus told His disciples, "Beware of false doctrine." Paul said, "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them"(Romans 16:17). Jesus has predestinated us to be conformed to His image. This is why Paul said, "And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly" (1 Corinthians 15:49). This is because when we are born into this world, we all took on the image of the first man Adam. But after we are born-again, we then take on the image of the second Adam, Jesus Christ. After our new birth experience, we are risen to walk in newness of life, reflecting Christ's image. Are you conforming to the image that He predestinated you to be? What do people see when they see you? Do they see Christ in you, the hope of glory? Are you reflecting His character? "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure" (1 John 3:2-3).
Sing: To be like Jesus! To be like Jesus! On earth I long, to be like Him; all through life's journey, from earth to glory, I only ask, to be like Him!
