2011 June 24 - Morning Manna

When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me. Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? (Jeremiah 8:18-22)

Today's Morsel: Health issues seem to be center stage these days.  Many people seem to be facing health problems.  Finding the cure for ailments have many people puzzled.  This is really nothing new.  Even in Jeremiah's time he wrote asking if there was no physician in Gilead.  Is there not a doctor there.  The  priests and prophets were to be the physicians.  They were the balm.  They were to have healing in their hands.  And so the Lord asked, if they are there, then why aren't my people recovered?  Why aren't my people healed?  If you are born again, God has sent to you heal.  Jesus said that He came to heal and to preach the gospel (Luke 4:18).  This gospel of Jesus Christ opens blinded eyes, unstops deaf ears, makes the lame to walk and the dumb to talk.  This gospel sets the captive free.  This gospel heals man's hearts.  This gospel saves man's life. Jesus said that we shall lay hands upon the sick and they shall recover.  He said that the works that He did, we shall do also and greater.  So where are the apothecaries?  Is there any balm in your area?  If not, what are you doing to cause it to come about?  David said, "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God" (Psalms 42:11).
Sing: He was wounded for our transgressions! He was bruised for our iniquities! Surely, He bore all our sorrows, and by His stripes we are healed.
