Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. (Ephesians 5:1-4)
Today's Morsel: I like walking into our house when my wife is baking. There is nothing like smelling that sweet aroma of good food as it hits your nose. Cookies, pies, and cakes just seem to permeate into the air and cause me to want to taste what is being cooked. Paul said that we are to be followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. Paul said that Jesus' offering was as a sweet smelling odor or fragrance to God. Therefore, he calls for your life to be as such. Everything that we do should permeate a sweet smell unto the Lord. But he also tells us, "But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks." There are things, if we are not careful, that will send forth a foul smell from us onto God and cause our sacrifice (praise) to be rejected. And none of us should desire this to happen. As Solomon said, dead flies in the apothecary cause the ointment to send forth a stench!
Sing: I love you Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship you, O' my soul, rejoice. Take joy my King, in what you hear; let it be a sweet, sweet, sound in your ear.
We exalt Thee! We exalt Thee! We exalt Thee, Oh Lord! We exalt Thee! We exalt Thee! We exalt Thee, Oh Lord.
