Giving Thanks To God
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:16-17)
Today’s Morsel: Paul’s instructions to the church is that everything we say that we are going to do, to do it all in the name of Lord Jesus, and to give thanks to God the Father through Him. A call to thank God is always appropriate. Paul also instructs us to let the word of Christ dwell in us with all wisdom, and that we should teach and admonish one another through psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in our heart to the Lord. God’s Word ought to be deeply rooted in our lives so that we know it and can use it to help others grow in Christ and be edified by it. And anytime we use it, we ought to be thankful, and to give thanks to the One who gave it to us, and for its use. A little appreciation to God for what He does for us could make the difference between being whole and being healed. Ask the ten lepers that Jesus healed. Only the Sarmatian came back to give Him thanks, and he was made completely whole.
Sing: Thanks! Thanks! I give You thanks, for all You have done. I am so blessed, my soul has found rest; Oh Lord, I give You Thanks.
Thought For Today: “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” (Colossians 3:15)
