Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 5 January 2021

Watch Your Step

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.(1 John 2:6)

Today’s Morsel:  Have you ever just been walking along when suddenly you trip and fall?  And you wonder to yourself, how in the world did that happen, I know I was looking where I was going! The problem is that sometimes we can be accustomed to where we are and we can become careless.  Throughout scripture, we are warned to be careful how we walk.  We must watch our steps. Satan is always setting traps and pitfalls to cause us to fall.  John states, “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”  We who profess to know Christ, and that we have communion with Him and abide in his favor, should prove the truth of our profession by walking as Christ walked; by living a life of devotion and obedience to Him, and by loving our neighbor as ourselves.  We should not ever neglect the ‘Golden Rule’.  We should do unto others as we would have them do unto us.   Peter states, For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.(1 Peter 2:21-24)  Always follow the example of Jesus.  If you fall you can get back up.   But watch your step, the world is a slippery place.

Sing: Lord, I can’t even walk without You holding my hand, the mountains too high and the valleys too wide, down on my knees that’s where I learned to stand, and I can’t even walk without You holding my hand.

Thought For Today:See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.(Ephesians 5:15-16)
