Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 February 2

“But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?” (Job 28:12)

Today’s Morsel:  So many seem to be trying to live their lives without wisdom.  They have degrees, but no wisdom. They have careers, but no wisdom.  Job asked his friends where can wisdom be found?  So many are looking for it in all the wrong places.  He said, “Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air. Destruction and death say, we have heard the fame thereof with our ears.” (Job 28:13-22).  But then Job said to them, “God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof” (verse 23).  He said, If you want to know where wisdom is found, then seek it from God.  “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding” (Job 28:28).  Friend, if you are looking for wisdom, “…Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).  For she (wisdom) dwells with prudence.

Sing:  Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus daily let me go; higher, higher in the school of wisdom, more of grace to know.
O’ deeper yet, I pray, and higher every day, and wiser, blessed Lord, in Thy precious holy word.

Thought For Today:  Wisdom is the principle thing. Get wisdom.
