Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 March 3

In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. (John 4:31-34)

Today’s Morsel:  When Jesus had need to go through Samaria, His disciples were gone away into the city to meat.  While they were gone a woman of Samaria came to draw water and Jesus discussed with her about the Holy Ghost and who He was.  When His disciples returned, they wanted Jesus to eat. But He told them that He had meat that they knew not of. They asked within themselves who had given Him meat to eat.  But Jesus was speaking of something more profound.  He was speaking of a deeper word. A deeper understanding.  A deeper meaning to life than bread.  Like today, many are not able to eat the meat that Jesus has to offer because they are still immature and unlearned in the things of God.  Paul said, “Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:11-14).  Until you have a clear understanding of who Jesus is and His doctrine, you will never know the meat that He has for you to eat.

Sing:  Come and dine the master calleth come and dine.
You may feast at Jesus table all the time.  He who fed the multitude, turned the water into wine, to the hungry calleth now, come and dine.

Thought For Today: The deeper things are of God.
