Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
Today's Morsel: Spring, when those wonderful things of God's creation come forth. Flowers fill the air with their beauty and smells. Baby birds start chirping and singing, giving the sound of newness of life. Baby bunnies hopping everywhere. All of God's creation seems to spring forth with newness of life at this time of year. What about you and me? Can people see the newness in our lives? Can they smell and see the aroma and beauty of Christ in us? Paul calls for us to, "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." If our praise and worship isn't coming up into His nostrils as a sweet smelling savor, as a delight, pleasure, and enjoyment to Him; and if others cannot see and smell him radiating from us, then we may be too far from Him and not alive in newness of life. His word is sweeter than the honey and the honeycomb. The only way you will draw bees to make more honey, is if your flower gives off a sweet smell.
Sing: Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! There's just something about that Name. Master! Savior! Jesus! Like the fragrance after the rain; Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Let all heaven and earth proclaim, kings and kingdoms shall all past away, but there's something about that Name.
