Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 July 22

Is Your Heart Troubled?

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

Today’s Morsel: How do you deal with a troubled heart? Throughout scripture, we are told to guard our heart with all diligence because out of it are the issues of life. You see, our actions and thoughts are influenced by what we hear, think, feel, and believe. This is why we are cautioned to be aware of what we let get inside of us. Troubles are not caused by someone else; they are caused by us. Others and things do not create our troubles, we do. When we don’t exercise discretion, wisdom, and understanding, we can create our own troubles. When we overspend or do things that go against God’s word it can cause us trouble and turn those troubles into anxiety and worry, which can lead to depression and excessive stress. So, you must guard your mind or else the enemy will take control of it and render you noneffective for the kingdom. Is your heart troubled? “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Sing: I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river in my soul. I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.

Thought For Today: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
