The Light
“Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” (Isaiah 9:1-2)
Today’s Morsel: Of all the prophetic writings and prophets, none seem to lay the groundwork for the coming of Christ with truth like Isaiah. From the time that Isaiah got his vision of heaven, cleansing from the altar of God, and committed himself to be used by God, He’s given revelation of truth to share with the people of God. He states that light would shine in the places of darkness and death. Matthew cites Isaiah’s prophesy when he wrote: “Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:12-17) Do you remember the day that light came to you? Do you remember how He led you out of darkness and into His marvelous light? Paul states: “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” (Colossians 1:10-14) Aren’t you glad the light has shined unto you?
Sing: Light of the world You step down into darkness, opened-up heart, and let me see. Beauty that made, this heart adore You, hope for the world became poor.
So, here I am to worship, here I am to bow-down, here I am to say that You’re my God; You’re all together lovely, all together worthy, all together wonderful to me.
I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sins upon that cross; I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin, upon that cross; so, here I am to worship, here I am to bow-down, here I am to say that You’re my God; You’re all together lovely, all together worthy, all together wonderful to me.
Thought For Today: Jesus Christ is the light that gets you out of darkness.
