Running For The Prize

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Today’s Morsel: I like watching the Olympic games. Especially the races. It’s amazing to me just how fast some human-beings are. Both men and woman. Someone said that some of them are so fast, that you could turn out the light in their bedrooms at night and that they would be in bed before the room got dark (humor). But one thing about these races, no matter how fast each of these people are, only one of them is going to win the prize. Paul was aware of the rule of running in a sport events, and so he uses this analogy to emphasis to us the importance of running this Christian race to win the prize that is set before us. The goal to win ought to be each of our desire and purpose. We ought not to be called Christians just for a title. But we ought to be living and serving to win the prize. There is a crown of life that awaits each of us, but we must run correctly and according to the rules to obtain our prize.

Sing: Lord, I’m running trying to make a hundred, ninety-nine and a half won’t do.  Lord, I’m running trying to make a hundred, ninety-nine and a half won’t do.

Thought For Today: “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:17)
