Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 July 28

Is It True?

“Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?” (Daniel 3:14-15)

Today’s Morsel: One day my doorbell rang, and I went to the door to see who it was. It was a canvasser for a political figure. She asked me if I was a voter. I told her that I was. She asked me if I had made up my mind as to who I was going to vote for. I told her that I had not because I had not had the time to review or to listen to the candidates to see where they stood on issues. She saw that as an opportunity to try to convince me that her candidate would be the best choice. She began to tell me all the negative things about the other candidate. I listened to her for a moment, and then I stopped her. I asked her if I could ask her a question. She said sure. I said to her, Have you ever met the person whom you are telling me all these negative things about? She said, No I have not. I asked to her, Then how do you know that all these things you are saying against him are true? I went on to suggest to her that she shouldn’t speak evil of anyone whom she had not met. Letting her know that her integrity is on the line.

When it was told King Nebuchadnezzar that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not bow to his image, he asked is it true that you do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? He was saying, is what is being told me that you are doing true? He wanted to know for himself. This is how we ought to act in the church. We should not just assume that when we hear things about others that they are true. If we want to know the truth, we should ask them. Have you asked Jesus if it is true that He is God? You have not because you ask not.

Sing: He’s the great I Am, the Everlasting Father, He’s the Prince of Peace, the Great Eternal Wonder, Holy Counselor, and Zion’s Righteous Governor, He’s the Great, He’s the Great I Am.

Thought For Today: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)
