The Disciple Is Not Above His Master
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:20)
Today’s Morsel: I don’t understand why some folks think that just because they are chosen to lead, that they are greater than others. Some of them even think that not even Jesus can tell them what to do. You may say, ‘How so?’ Well, how many folks do you know that are not willing to forgive others? Jesus always put the onus on the one who thinks that they are right to go and ask for forgiveness from the one who did them wrong. I don’t know about you, but the thought of hell isn’t too pleasing to me. How many folks do you know that say one thing and do another? What about those who make a vow and don’t keep it? You see, when we don’t take God’s word at face value, we are exalting ourselves above Him. Scripture tells us that He has exalted His Word even above His name (Psalms 138:2). If we think His name is important, where ought we to put His Word. You see, Jesus wants us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers of His Word. He said that the servant is not greater than his lord. Jesus carried out His Father’s Word before us, and He expects us to do likewise.
Sing: Let me walk blessed Lord; in the way Thou has gone, leading straight to land above. Giving cheer everywhere, to the sad and the lone; Fill my way everyday with love.
Fill my way everyday with love, as I walk with the heavenly Dove.; Let me go all the while with a song and a smile; Fill my way everyday with love.
Thought For Today: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” (John 13:34)
