Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 July 3

What Are You Looking For In Life?

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13)

Today’s Morsel: I’m sure that you like me have heard folks, but especially our teens and young adults, say that life is boring. Some kids drop out of school because they say that it is boring and they are not learning anything anyway. People quit and won’t attend church for the same reasons. Folks quit their jobs for this same reason. But that really isn’t the reason they drop out or quit. That’s just the excuse they give. The real reason is that they don’t know what they are looking for in life. To find contentment and direction in life requires godly wisdom. Wisdom is no more that knowledge and understanding personified in one’s life. Solomon states, “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” (Proverbs 4:5-9) It’s hard to find what you are looking for in life when you don’t possess the wisdom to know what it is, and the knowledge and understanding as to how it applies to your life. I have found that the thing that some, oftentimes, are looking for to make one happy and satisfied, is right before them. But because they don’t possess the wisdom to know what it is, they keep running around like a hamster in a cage going nowhere and making excuses for their failures. Remember, life is found only in Jesus.

Sing: Are you weary, are you brokenhearted? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus. Are you grieving over joys departed? Tell it to Jesus alone.

Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus, He is a friend that’s well known. You have no other such a friend of brother, tell it to Jesus alone.

Thought For Today: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
