Are You Connected To Jesus?
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:1-7)
Today’s Morsel: Do you remember when computers first came out, and folks were taking them back saying that they would not work because they were not plugging them in? Most items aren’t going to work without a power source, and neither are we. What would you say are some of the reasons that folks are not connected to Jesus? Is it a lack of love for God and His word? Is it because people do not have love for the truth that they might be saved? Is it because the world is pulling and tugging at their hearts daily? Or is it because they are not fully persuaded that the Bible is real and that Jesus is coming back. There may be many reasons in a person’s heart that can dislodge them from Christ, but none like oneself. The onus to stay connected to Jesus lies in each of us to make it happen. We each must take the responsibility to remain in Him. Jesus tells us why it is important that we stay connected to Him. He said, For without Him, we can do nothing; and that we will be cast into hell. When we refuse to stay connected, we will not have a power source to keep us going. Like the branches that are dislodged from the vine they will die, so we are going to die if we are not connected to Jesus.
Sing: Lord, I can’t even walk without You holding my hand, the mountain’s too high and the valley’s too wide. Down on my knees, that’s where I learn to stand. Lord, I can’t even walk without You holding my hand.
Thought For Today: “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:26)
