2011 October 21 - Morning Manna

"Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD" (Jonah 1:1-3).

Today's Morsel: While living in Japan, it was always amazing to me the price it cost to fly from Okinawa to Mainland Japan.  A thousand mile trip cost almost as much as it cost to fly round trip to California.  Some folks don't realize it, but they are paying a great price for failing to do what Jesus has asked them to do.  Jonah was called of God to go to Nineveh to give them warning, but Jonah chose to go to Tarshish.  But after his encounter with God and three days in the belly of the whale, he was ready to go do what God had told him to do in the first place. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul", Jesus said (Matthew 16:26)?  What would you say that your soul is worth?  Just what price do you place on your life?  Friend you are more important to God than you will ever know, so don't let the world consume your life.

Sing: He paid a debt, He did not owe, I owed a debt I could not pay, I needed someone to wash my sins away, and now I sing a brand new song amazing grace, for Jesus paid a debt, that I could never pay.
