2011 June 1 - Morning Manna

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.  (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Today's Morsel:   Simply put, you can't run with weights on.  Weights are for training to build the muscles.  But the day of the race, the weights must be removed or you take a strong and almost certain chance that you will lose.  So it's time to unload the weights.  It's time to reach down and undo them.

Weights are things that you are carrying:
ü Other peoples problems and attitudes
ü Family situations
ü Concern about backsliders
ü Non-committed family members
ü Past abuse
ü Divorce
ü Job loss
ü Sickness
ü Housing concerns
ü Insurance
ü Debts
ü Careers
ü Economy
Where did we get so many weights?  How did you allow them to get put on you?  Paul said that it's time to lay them aside.  It's time to remove them so that you can run.  We have got to get our minds on Christ and stop worrying about everyone else's problems and picking up things that don't belong to us.  Yes, we need to listen to others, but not carry their burdens.  I know Paul tells us to bear one another burdens.  But there comes a time that they've got to link up with Jesus and take His yoke on them and let their burdens become light.  Solomon said:  "A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both" (Proverbs 27:3).  You need to get that stone and weight of anger out of you. You can't run with it attached to you. You're going to lose the race.  "Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy" (Proverbs 27:4)?  So come on my brother, come on my sister, cast it away so that you may run and obtain.

Sing: I 'm running for my life!  I been running for my life! I'm running for my life!  I been running for my life!  If anybody asks you, what's the matter with me, tell them I'm saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled, and water baptized, I got Jesus on my side, and I'm running for my life.
