2011 May 18 - Morning Manna

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. (Proverbs 6:6-11)

Today's Morsel:  There seems to be a lot of "freeloaders" these days along the streets and road ways. Some have signs that say they will work for food, until you tell them that you have a job, then they tell you of their disability and that they are unable to work. What a scam!

In olden times, people planted gardens in the spring, harvested it in the summer and fall, and canned items for the winter, because they knew that during the winter, food would be scarce and some winters were very harsh.  But today, very few people practice this procedure.  Solomon tells us to observe the ant. He said it having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. You don't see ants out in the winter looking for food. They know that winter and hard times are coming and so no one has to tell them to get ready, they prepare before it comes, as prior proper planning always prevents poor performance.  "How long will you sleep?" Solomon asked. When are you going to wake up and realize that you need to get ready.  Jesus said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:19-21).  How much food do you have stored in heaven?  The Lord said through the prophet Malachi, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house"  (Malachi 3:10). Are you prepared for the unexpected?  How much of God's Word do you have stored up in you? "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD" (Amos 8:11). Get ready!

Sing:  Jesus has a table spread where the saints of God are fed, He invites His chosen people, "Come and dine!" With His manna He doth feed and supply our every need, tis so sweet to sup with Jesus all the time.
"Come and dine," the Master calleth, "Come and dine!" You may feast at Jesus table all the time; He who fed the multitude, turned the water into wine, to the hungry calleth now, "Come and dine!"
