2011 April 27 - Morning Manna

As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. (Leviticus 2:12-13)

Today's Morsel:  I love how the Lord is always so detailed in His instructions to us.  If you aren't a person for detail and the smaller matters, you may miss God's point to you for your salvation.
My instructors in the Army used to tell us, "Minor details will make you or break you."  The Lord said that it's a little leaven that leaventh the whole lump.  The Lord told Moses, "And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. In other words, every offering or gift must be offered with salt."  Jesus said, "Ye are the salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13).  Therefore, when we bring our gift or offering, we must bring it freely with and from ourselves.  Anything that we offer to the Lord, must be freely given of our own freewill or else it will be rejected.  It must be presented as a sweet smell unto Him.  With every offering and gift, we must always ask ourselves if we would accept this if someone was giving it to me.  If our answer is no, then we must examine ourselves so that we approach God the correct way with our offerings.   Jesus said, "For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it?  Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another" (Mark 9:49-50).  Jesus said to have salt in yourself.  The Greek word for salt here is halas, which means prudence.  Prudence is cautiousness, carefulness, discretion, good sense, forethought.  We need to use good sense and give forethought to what we bring to the Lord and how we present it or else it will be rejected the same as the Lord told Cain, "If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door" (Genesis 4:6-7).  Cain didn't do right in bringing his offering to God.  Apparently, he gave no forethought to his offering to the Lord  as his Brother Abel did.  We must always pay attention to the details of what God asks of us.  He has a plan, and we must follow it.
Sing:  Lord, prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true; and with thanksgiving, I'll be a living, sanctuary, for you!
