2011 June 28 - Morning Manna

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:53-58).

Today's Morsel:  Scripture doesn't tell us much about Jesus' childhood, but we know that He had to have one.  We even see that Mary and Joseph had more children.  The people in the temple asked about Jesus, "Is not this the carpenter's son?  Is not His mother called Mary? and His brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?  And his sisters, are they not all with us?"   I often wonder what Jesus' childhood was like at home.  Did he get spankings for disobeying His parents?  Did He and His siblings get into trouble for playing tricks on their parents like other kids?  I bet there was never a shortage of food at their house!  Imagine if Jesus took two fish and five loaves and fed 5,000 plus, their table at home was probably always filled with food.  Mary was chosen by God for a special purpose, but once that purpose was fulfilled, her life as a wife and mother was the same as any other wife and mother.  She had kids to take care of and a home to look after.  Yes, she knew that Jesus was special, yet she also knew that she needed the Holy Ghost the same as everyone else.  That is why she was in the upper room on the day of Pentecost along with her other children (Acts1:14).  If ever there was a scripture to show us the importance of needing God's Spirit within us it Acts 1:14).  Just think, if Mary needed it, you and I definitely need it.

Sing:  They were in an upper chamber, they were all in one accord, when the Holy Ghost descended as was promise by our Lord.  Oh Lord send the power just now!  Oh' Lord send the power just now! Oh Lord send the power just now, and baptize everyone.
